Honey, I’m Home
Giant Pied Hornbill
Transparent Watercolor
28 x 18 inches
$799.00
Of all the cool birds I have seen over my many years of travel in India, hornbills are one of the most interesting. To protect her young from monitor lizards, snakes and other predators, the female actually walls herself up in a cavity in a tall tree. During this time in the nesting chamber, the male supplies both her and the young with food. Here, he has returned with one of her favorites, fresh figs. India and Asia’s Giant Pied Hornbill is one of the larger hornbills, with very distinctive black and white markings.
